Manmadhan Ambu

Manmadhan Ambu has a good script without kuthu numbers, no skin show, no item girl, no villain or punch lines. Kamal haasan takes charge of story, screenplay and dialogues while KS Ravikumar does the direction. Although the story is interesting, the film unfolds very slowly and does not gather momentum at any stage. The script sparkles in patches and fails to engage the audience completely. The way in which Kamal narrates his past in a reverse mode is intelligent.Trishas character as movie star Nisha is the pivot role around which the film revolves. Sangeetha overshadows all the other artists in her natural and spontaneous performance. Trisha for the first time in her career speaks for herself and it is a revelation and certainly adds greater strength to her character. Madhavan teams up with Kamal after Anbe Sivam has does his part with ease. In their small roles Oorvasi and Ramesh Aravind bring out the agony of illness.Technically the film is top class.Music is by Devi Sri Prasad, Oyyale song stays in mind and the other numbers are just about satisfactory.

We expected more from KS Ravikumar but nothing is happening in the movie.
Overall verdict- Manmadhan Ambu is not a great movie or a bad movie but a average movie with a good script but not up to the mark (Kamal Style)

Easan

The basic plot of Easan is simple, predictable and even clichéd but it is that presentation and performances of all characters big and small that makes the film watchable. The film is about a rich spoiled son of a corrupt minister who virtually rules chennai city(night life).The film works to a large extent as Sasikumar has taken a leaf from the pages of daily crimes related to Chennai night life and its nexus with politicians and the stinking rich.All the lead characters are basically newcomers, which is the major plus of the film.AL Alagappan is astonishingly agile in a very life-like performance of a corrupt politician.Ultimately it is Samuthirakani who steals the show with a restrained performance as a cop.

On the downside, the film is too long nearly three hours,with tedious flashback,and a bloody climax.James Vasanthans songs are total waste of time and slacken the pace of the film.

Final verdict-Although Easan is certainly not in the league of Sasikumars sensational debut film Subramaniapuram,but worth a watch.

Enthiran in world's best of 2010 Film

My Comment—Virudhagiri is better movie than Raavan but Maniratnam has the guts to send this stupid movie to the award function.

VIRUDHAGIRI

In film Virudhagiri Vijayakanth delivers with his directorial touch for adding some essential ingredients in narration. The film is based on Liam Neeson starrer Hollywood movie ‘Taken’, an emotional thriller indeed. However, Captain’s idea linking the Australian attack on Indian students with this plot makes it interesting.


Vijayakanth outlines whole lot of hard-hitting problems through dialogues that often wins applause from his audience, which includes the present film industry related issues of piracies. One such example is when Mansoor Ali Khan says “Avanga vaarisu edukuru pandanga mattum marketla varavae varadhu. Matthavan padam release aana anikke vandhududhu”.

Vijayakanth has used Virudhagiri as a communication vehicle to convey his thoughts at the same time satisfying the entertainment quotient to the audience. Though the plot is good the screenplay and direction is bad and it doesnt make us engaged in the movie. Songs are major speed brakers for the the movie.

But watching Vijayakanth speaking English and tracing the culprits and fighting with them is the comedy of the film. His dialogue delivery is not good and his close shots are very bad.

Final verdict—Watch it for Vijayakanths English speaking skill and you will enjoy the movie. A full fledged comedy movie of the year 2010.

KAVALAN MUSIC REVIEW

1. Vinnai Kappan--This is not a typical Vijay intro song, but falls in the same category as it is reminiscent of earlier such songs.


2.Yaradu--Vidyasagar's melodie song same as he gave it in Madhurai. A crowd favourite most definitely.


3.Sada Sada-The song is more lively and enjoyable to listen to. But an average song.


4.Step Step- It is an energetic number with the sudden downscales in rhythm causing no interruptions to the song.This one must gain popularity once people see the visuals on the screen.


5.Pattamboochi--A romantic number, Pattamboochi is simple in terms of music.This song may be a favourite with young fans of Vijay!


Overall Verdict--Vidyasagar's music album for Kavalan is quite different from his earlier albums for Vijay. An average album.

3 Idiots remake

After Vijay walks out of 3 idiots remake Now Ajith or Surya is considered for the remake in Tamil.

Vijay out of 3 Idiots

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Ilayathalapathy Vijay has walked out of Shankar's 3 Idiots remake!


Unconfirmed reports have it that Shankar and Vijay had difference of opinion over various issues, and both have agreed to part as friends.

As per sources the bone of contention between the director and actor was over Vijay's look in the film. A source close to the development said: "Vijay did not approve of the clothes or the way Shankar wanted him to go for a new hair style for the film".


The official line will be "the star could not adjust his dates". Meanwhile Shankar and GFC has started a hunt for a new hero to replace Vijay.

Uthamaputhiran

Uthamaputhiran has real sweetness in the presentation it keeps you smiling long after you’ve left the theatre. Though the movie is in the lines of Santhosh Subramaniburam we could enjoy the fun and comedy happens in the film.Dhanush plays the role of a happy-go-lucky young man who is willing to help anyone in distress.Genelia plays the similar role of Santhosh Subramaniapuram and she does it with ease. A big family is shown for Dhanush and Genelia. Vivek as Emotional Ekambaram has done a very good comedy in this movie, the whole 2nd half of the movie belongs to Vivek.Music by Vijay Antony is not so great but Ussumu Laresay is the only hummable song.Director Mitran Jawahar has keept the movie light, entertaining and funny.Final Verdict--Go watch it with you family and Enjoy this Diwali.

Va Quarter Cutting

After watching Tamil Padam we went with little hope to this movie Va Quarter Cutting, but this is no way near to it. The story is around Shiva who comes to Chennai on a dry day when all liquor shops are closed and he is fly to Saudi Arabia in a few hours time and before that his quest is to have one last quarter cutting. What a concept!!!!!!!!! Though the concept is silly and new aleast the movie should be presented in a crisp and entertaining way, but director duo Pushkar-Gayathri failed to present it in a humour way. SPB charan and Lekha Washington has acted but nothing to said about them. GV Prakash has scored music but nothing is heared are remembered. Only Nirav Shah is present in the movie for his outstanding cinemotography.

Final verdict--Watch the movie with a Quarter Cutting otherwise it will cut you.

Enthiran

Enthiran movie is too good. A real new attempt by director Shankar. A landmark movie in indian film industry. Rajini magic is the major plus for this movie. A super hero kind of movie with lots of fun and entertainment. First half is too good. 2nd half lags a bit but takes a rocket speed towards the end. The computer graphics work done for this movie is the highlight. Climax graphics work is equalant to any hollywood movie. Music and songs by ARR is an added advantage for this movie. Ash is too good in this movie. Over all the movie is mix of Rajini magic and Shankars creativity. Enjoy the fun in theatre.

Boss Engira Bhaskaran

Boss Engira Bhaskaran is a comedy movie which is fresh and clean. The movie has so much fun and timing done by the duo Arya and Santhanam. It has some fun loving one liners.Story is nothing but a series of comic mishaps, depending on funny dialogues and hilarious situations. Arya, Santhanam & Nayanthara has given a very good performance. Music by Yuvan is good and song Yaar Intha Penthan is the best. Director Rajesh of SMS has once again scored with his good screenplay in a clean and a family comedy movie.Just watch the movie with no expectation and enjoy the one liners. Final verdict--Rocking Comedy

Naan Mahaan Alla

Naan Mahaan Alla is a fresh movie with a good screenplay and packed in a breezy manner within comercial format. Karthi is too good in this movie, he carries the entire 1st half with his casual acting. Kajal is good. Yuvan has done his job, Iragai pole song is the pick of the movie.In certain places they have used live sound which is good for the movie.Director Suseendran has to be praised for his screenplay, very neat and crisp. Naan Mahan Alla is a simple movie with good screenplay and good performance from the lead stars. The movie is in line with Pollathavan. Highlight of the movie is Thala Ajith's Mankatha teaser- which is screened during the interval. Go watch it in theatre.

SALT

Angelina Jolies Salt has created much hype through the ad and trailer as Who is Salt? after watching the movie we also ask who is salt? the movie is about a russian spy who is in search of her husband. The director want to confuss us by creating lot of complications in dealing with Angelina Jolie. Angelina plays as Evelyn Salt and she does some good action scenes but it is not up to the mark of Tomb Rider or Wanted. Our expectation was high where us moive is not up to the mark so we came out in search of Salt outside the theatre.

Thillangadi

Thillangadi is a remake of Telugu flick Kick. Enna than remake padamnalum scene by scene shot by shot atheyava edukurathu romba kashtam. The role Ravi teja did it in telugu cannot be matched with Jeyam Ravi in Thillangadi ravi teja gave a worderfull performance and his dialoge delivery is a plus where as Jeyam ravis dialoge delivery and timing sense is minus in this movie. Its an entertainer but the length of the movie is the killing factor. Vadivelu has done his job well by keeping us engaged for few scenes. Songs by Yuvan is below average. Overall comment--Watch it if you have enough time.

Inception

What a movie to watch. Inception is a real treat for movie viewers. The convept was too goos and the visual effects is a treat. Christopher Nolan should be praised for his screenplay and the characters he had penned. One of the best movie in recent years. Watch this movie in theatres. A real mind blowing movie. Dont miss it.

Paiya

Paiya is good. Lingusamy has taken a different route to pack his shots and given a neat watchable movie with good songs. Yuvan is rocking. Karthi and Tamana has done a good job in this movie. Screenplay is too good and camera by Maghi is to be mentioned for the good job. worth a watch.

Singam

Singam is a typical Hari movie. Suraya is too good to watch in this kind of role he has done some real home work to entertain us. The movie is packed in such a way that we are not distracted from the screen. The screeplay is the one to be credited and songs are too good. Suryas performance is an added gift, anushka is good in this movie. Real worth for money.

Ravanan

Ravanan is not a movie expected from the director Maniratnam. We have seen great movies like Nayagan, Mouna Ragam, Thalapathi, Kannathi Muthmital but Ravanan is no where near to any of the said movies. The script itself is not clear, the characters are not given any details. I think Maniratnam decided to go with big stars without a solid script. Ravanan has one good thing that is cinemotgraphy visuals are too good but movie is not a worth to watch.

The Karate Kid

Karate Kid is the movie to watch. The movie is too good and Jaden Smith has done a marvelous job. Sad to see Jackie chan in old age role but he has done his job in the movie. The movie is too good to watch it with kids and enjoy the whole conversations. Jadens dialogue delivery is excellent. Real treat for movie buffs.

Goa

After 2 consecutive hit movie Venkat prabu has give us a break in Goa. Goa is not a typical Venkat movie because his magical screenplay is missing in this movie. Goa is for youngsters. Jai and Premji has done a good job in this movie. Sampath is too good to watch in this movie. Songs by Yuvan is good. Idhu Varai song satys in your heart. Premji in Puli Urumuthu song is the hight of comedy in the film. A ok type movie.

Tamil Padam

Tamil padam is a typical tamil padam which imitates all our old movie sentiments, builtup scenes and heroism. The director has penned the script in such a way that it has all the commercail element with lot of humour in imitating the scenes which we have seen earlier with leading heroes in earlier movies. when we see the same scenes with humour and imitation you really enjoy it. Siva has done a good job.Watch this movie for it lollu in theater.

Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya

VTV is a romantic movie from the creator Gautham vasudeva menon. Gautham has a special touch in all his movie for romantic scenes. After Minnale he has given us one more romantic flick to enjoy. Simbu and Trisha is living(loving) as karthik and jessi in the film. The romantic scenes are too good to fall in love with it. The songs by ARR is too good. Technically the movie is too good and performance by all the artist are enjoyable. The second half of the movie is little slow but adjustable.Very old(simple) story narrated in a poetic way. Enjoy the movie by watching it in theatre.

Asal

Thala kalaki irukum Asal. Asal movie is so stylish and it has some similiraty of Billa. The movie is made with Ajith fans in mind. In Asal all the Ajith scenes are like his intro for the movie. The story is so simple and little old one. Songs are ok. Movie is watchable for its stylish making, Ajith looks and for crispy screenplay. Asal may not attract everyone but it is a real treat for Ajith fans.

Aayirathil Oruvan

Aayirathil Oruvan is one of the best movies released in Tamil film industry. The story is very different from our usual tamil film and it was well handled by Selvaragavan. The creative side is very good and visual effects is at par with hollywood movies. Excellent script, camera, artist, screenplay and direction. Second half of the film seems to be little confused because the scenes are narrated with the help of music and visual effects. Overall the movie is excellent and we need this kind of movies in future from Selvaragavan.

Vettaikaran review

Vijay starrer vettaikaran movie is the same old film renmed and with artist change is released. The movie is a remake of old vijay movies like Thiruppachi and Bagavathi. Few scenes from Telugu Billa is copied and vijay dances the same way he is doing it for past few years, same old step with same old expressions and heroine Anushka is looking as Vijays sister in this movie. on the whole Vettaikaran has offered nothig new but rehershed some old movies with new songs and title.
